FAQ

What makes MP3Gain different from other volume normalizers?

MP3Gain uses EBU R128 — the broadcast industry standard for loudness measurement — which matches how human ears actually perceive volume. Unlike simple peak normalization, it analyzes perceived loudness so every track sounds equally loud, not just equally tall on a waveform. Plus, everything runs locally on your Mac with no uploads or cloud processing.

What audio formats does MP3Gain support?

MP3Gain supports MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF, and most common audio formats. All formats are available in both the free and premium tiers.

Will MP3Gain modify my original files?

No. By default, MP3Gain applies reversible gain adjustments without re-encoding your audio. Your original audio data remains intact. You can always undo or readjust the gain values later without any quality loss.

How much can I do with the free version?

The free version lets you process up to 3 files per day with all normalization methods — EBU R128, RMS, and Peak Limiting. You get full access to built-in presets, custom presets, and all audio formats. Free includes ads. Upgrade to Premium for unlimited files, ad-free experience, and priority support.

Does MP3Gain run natively on Apple Silicon?

Yes. MP3Gain is a Universal app with native support for both Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) and Intel-based Macs. You'll get full performance on any Mac running macOS 11.0 or later.

Is my audio uploaded to the cloud or shared with anyone?

Never. MP3Gain processes everything locally on your Mac. Your audio files never leave your device. There are no accounts, no uploads, no cloud servers, and no analytics tracking. What happens on your Mac stays on your Mac.
